Be ready for more dragons and drama!

The second season of the Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon‘s production has officially begun, according to HBO. The well-known TV network has announced that filming has started at the UK’s Leavesden Studios.

HBO shared a set shot of the recognizable iron throne with staff workers in the backdrop to mark the beginning of House of the Dragon Season 2 production. The Harry Potter series was one of several high-profile films and TV shows that were produced at the location where the filming is taking place.

House of the Dragon defeated shows including Better Call Saul, The Crown, Ozark, and Severance to win the award for Best Drama Series of 2022 at the recent 80th Golden Globe Awards. For the course of its eight-season run on HBO, Game of Thrones was never able to earn the prize.

The movie follows House Targaryen, the aristocratic family of Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones when a civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons breaks out between claimants to the Iron Throne. The events of Game of Thrones take place around 200 years earlier in House of the Dragon.

The first season of House of the Dragon was co-showrunner by Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan J. Condal. Together with George R. R. Martin, they also served as executive producers for the season. Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Paddy Considine, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, and Sonoya Mizuno are among the series’ impressive cast members.

HBO Max now offers every episode of House of the Dragon.
