Recently, Disney revealed brand-new information about their upcoming comic book film The Marvels, revealing the name of the Marvel Cinematic Universe character that Zawe Ashton will play. According to the caption of an official still from the film, the British actress, well known for her roles in Velvet Buzzsaw and Nocturnal Animals, will be portraying Dar-Benn, a rebel.

The Marvels character played by Zawe Ashton has generated a lot of fan conjecture. Dar-Benn will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, although nothing is known other than the fact that he will play a villain.

Disney has also disclosed that Daniel Ings has officially joined the cast of the film in addition to the information on Zawe Ashton’s The Marvels role. Ty-Rone, a Kree, will be played by Ings, who is well known for his roles in Instinct and I Hate Suzie.

In many ways, The Marvels is expected to be a pioneering movie. Not only does it include three strong female superheroes, but Nia DaCosta, who previously helmed the horror film Candyman, is a female filmmaker. DaCosta is the first Black woman to head up a Marvel Studios production, adding to the project’s diversity and representation.

Together with Megan McDonnell, Elissa Karasik, and Zeb Wells, Nia DaCosta co-wrote the script for The Marvels, which she also directed. In an interview, DaCosta teased the newest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by calling the film “full comic book crazy.”

Actors who appear in The Marvels include Zawe Ashton, Park Seo-Joon, Saagar Shaikh, Zenobia Shroff, and Mohan Kapur. Samuel L. Jackson plays Nick Fury again in the movie following his six-episode Disney Plus series Secret Invasion.
