Amy Pascal will produce the New York Times bestselling book by Alexandra Bracken, “Lore,” which is in the works at Universal from the writers of “Snake Eyes”.

A feature film adaptation of the #1 New York Times bestseller Lore is being created by Universal.

The project, whose screenplay will be written by Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse, will be produced by Amy Pascal (Spider-Man films).

Lore, written by Alexandra Bracken, has been compared to both the Hunger Games and Greek mythology. It tells the tale of Lore Perseous, whose family was murdered as part of the Agon, a divine hunt that occurs every seven years in retaliation for nine Greek gods being forced to live on earth as mortals and being hunted. After spending years in seclusion, Lore must choose whether to return to the Agon with the aid of an old acquaintance she believed to be dead and Athena, one of the last of the ancient gods, to exact revenge on those who killed her family.

Executive producing is Bracken. For Universal, Lexi Barta and Jacqueline Garell will be in charge of the picture.

The Darkest Minds, another book by Bracken, was made into a young adult movie starring Amandla Stenberg and Harris Dickinson by 20th Century Fox. Silver in the Bone, her upcoming modern fantasy novel with Arthurian influences, will be released on April 4. Writers House and CAA both represent her.

Tentpole films like the G.I. Joe movie Snake Eyes and smaller movies like the Jesse Owens movie Race from Focus Feature, the most recent Rebecca adaptation from Netflix, and the Jean Seberg movie Seberg from Amazon Studio are all produced by Waterhouse and Shrapnel, who are represented by CAA, Grandview, and Curtis Brown.
